Retrofit – improving energy efficiency in domestic properties

Energy Efficiency Property Analysis
Tasked with improving the energy efficiency rating of properties, the client requested a report in Power BI:
- to provide transparency on the status of work to their client, proving targets had been met therefore payment for services rendered was due
- demonstrate which properties could be prioritised for energy efficiency improvements based on their current EPC Band
- show the impact on fuel costs, energy consumption and CO2 emissions for a property due to the improvements undertaken.
Power BI report
Leveraging data from spreadsheets, the Power BI report offers a comprehensive analysis of the current state of projects.
The Power BI report was designed to be functional for the end users and cover the financial, operational and environment benefits of the project.
To do this:
- data was gathered from multiple spreadsheets into the centralised report
- diagrams created to show the progress metrics in an easy to follow manner
- creating a priorisation of work matrix based on the outcome of the current home reports
- demonstrate the improvements through comparative analysis of the before/after impacts of improvements
All diagrams in the Power BI report are specifically tailored to the needs of various internal and external parties involved in the retrofit project, providing the users with relevant and timely insights.
Transparency – work status & energy improvements
Through the creation of the report and sharing this report with their client, the client is able to:
- Transparently demonstrate the work has been completed to speed up and secure payment from their client
- Discuss then prioritise the properties which would most benefit from energy efficient improvements
- Demonstrate the energy improvements on fuel costs, energy consumption, and CO2 emissions at each stage of the project.
