Find the off-hire lease periods – Highlight information not recorded in a system

Gantt chart to show periods assets on hire and off hire

Asset Availability Tracking System

The client leased assets. Their internal system tracked the date an asset went on hire and the date the asset was due for return. However, it could not generate reports showing an overall view of when the assets were off-hire. This critical gap prevented management from easily identifying which assets were available for hire during specific time periods leading potentially to asset utilisation and potential revenue loss.

Services provided

A Power BI reports was created providing:

  • a gantt chart which clearly displayed both on-hire and off-hire periods
  • a table which provides users with the ability to download a list of the on-hire and off-hire periods

Clearer overview of asset utilisation

The report provides both management and the contracts team with a clear oversight of the lease asset status of all assets of the company allowing them to:

  • quickly identify which assets are available when while bidding for contracts
  • instantly identifies the assets off-hire therefore potentially available for new leasing opportunities
  • improve prediction of availability across the fleet of assets for financial forecasting
  • increase time efficiencies by removing both the current manual process of checking when the hire period ends and, where relevant, the next hire periods starts before submitting bids for contracts.
